Chevy Intakes
I know this may stupid but there a simple way to tell a sbc intake from a bbc when you have a motor or another intake to compare it too.

I think it makes more sense since I edited this.

A big block intake is much bigger than a small block intake. Longer and wider.

It's nearly impossible to mistake one for the other, especially if you have a motor or another intake to compare.

I was being shown a picture by a guy who didn't know what he had. I just thought there might be some guick Identificationpoints on it. In the picture, it's hard to tell size. I knew the question sounded a little stupid. I'll get to do measurements and I will on my end.

Sorry, I misunderstood. :o

From a photo, port configuration and bolt pattern will tell you the difference.

Small block

Big block

Thanks Doc, It is a small block. From the picture from the top it was hard to tell.

Dr Crankenstein 03-26-2020 08:27 PM

Now I'm curious. What do you have and what were you looking for?

phil cottingham 03-26-2020 09:30 PM

I'm not really looking for anything. The picture was sent to me by a scrap guy I know. He knows I'm a sucker for cheap parts. Especially sbc. It is an Edelbrock Victor Jr. I'll actually put my eyes on it tomorrow.

Dr Crankenstein 03-26-2020 09:44 PM

Vic Jr. $320 retail. Good luck, that's a nice score if it's in any kind of shape!

Went to visit my junk friend today to see the intake. I came away with Edelbrock Victor Jr, a Wein High Rise, a GM aluminum intake and 2 sets of small block headers. The intakes just need a good cleaning. The Edelbrock needs some bolt hole work but can be fixed. The headers need cleaning and painting. Got it all for $20 buck.
